It looks like we were 100% correct on what Conficker would do when it finally got it’s updates. We pointed out that people do not write these kinds of worms to crash computers. They write them to make money and to scam people.

Conficker C is installing FAKE SECURITY software onto users computers. Under NO circumstances should you purchase the fake security product. It will show bogus scan results and claim you are infected with Conficker and several other threats. To remove Conficker you can use many of the free tools we recommend on this site. There are free Conficker removal tools all over the place.

The thing to really consider is not just rmeoving your current virus and fake security software but finding a permanent solution to not only fully remove Conficker but all other threats and ENSURE you do not get infected again.
